Carpet Floor’s second CD, Hovering Pillows, features the sound of a full band warmly interacting and killing it live in the studio. Joining the core duo of Garry Davis (Custom Floor) on guitar and Matt Crane (BNSF, Custom Floor) on drums are guest players Rune Freeman (Warm Climate, Solar Wimp, Boxing) on bass on all tracks and Seth Kasselman (Warm Climate, Boxing) on guitar on three tracks. From heavy, fuzzed-out rock destruction to lilting, delayed atmospherics to mesmerizing drones to searing, improvised noise crescendos, Carpet Floor effortlessly maintains a glowing ball of psychedelic energy from the first moment of this full-length 70-minute CD to the last.

This is spontaneous music. None of it was practiced in advance. All of the songs were played live with no overdubs added later, except the five drone interludes on track 6 only. The keys were taped down on two synthesizers for the drones on track 5. Tracks 1, 4, 5 and 7 were recorded on July 30-31, 2003; and tracks 2, 3 and 6 were recorded on December 21-22, 2004 at Cumberland in Orange, California by Garry Davis. Thanks to Mark Waters. Mastered by Pete Lyman at Infrasonic in Los Angeles, California. In lieu of slammed volume levels, the full dynamic range of this music was preserved. Cover art (detail) by Tanya Owens.
