For their fourth CD, Blow Out, Carpet Floor is back in full band mode. Joining core members Garry Davis (Custom Floor) on guitar and Matt Crane (BNSF, Custom Floor) on drums are guest players Adam Diller (BNSF) on sax on five tracks and Mark Waters (Sten Guns, Contribution) on bass on four tracks. Out of the four Carpet Floor CDs released so far, Blow Out flat out rocks the house the most, although it also has many dimly-lit, abstract moments to share. Ranging from upbeat (yet totally fuzz-destroyed) pop to contemplative, melancholy asides to intense, howling free improv to mesmerizing psychedelic rock, Blow Out definitely lives up to its name.

This is spontaneous music. None of it was practiced in advance. All of the songs were played live with no overdubs added later, except the bass on tracks 8 and 10 only. Note: There are also no overdubs on track 7—Matt played the drums and the steel rod guitar in his lap at the same time. Also, an Ebow was placed on the strings of an extra guitar for the drone on track 8. Recorded on November 7-9, 2005 at Cumberland in Orange, California by Garry Davis. Thanks to Mark Waters.
